On his Barcelona debut, Jannik Sinner dealt with Egor Gerasimov on Tuesday.
In 68 minutes, the 19-year-old progressed with 6-3, 6-2 to set up another round match with one of his newest rival Roberto Bautista Agut.
When Sinner first met Gerasimov, he guarded well on his strike side to set up his forehand with a wide position and free swing: six of his seven shot in the first set fell off his forehand, and he went ahead to hit a 21 winner over Gerasimov’s seven.
Despite the fact that in his post-match speech Sinner said he wasn’t that cheerful or satisfied with his exhibition, he actually sprinkled in a couple of superb drop shots to defeat Gerasimov.
His next opponent earlier on Tuesday, Bautista Agut defeated Pablo Andujar 6-4, 6-0. The World No. 11 broke his Spanish countryman on five occasion. It sure going to be an interesting match.
Do you think Sinner stand a chance?
