It was a massive win for the unseeded and fourth first-time winner Aslan Karatsev at the Dubai Duty-Free Tennis Championships.
Aslan Karatsev arrived at another achievement in his fantastic start to the 2021 ATP Tour season yesterday when he defeated Lloyd Harris 6-3, 6-2 to claim his first ATP Tour title at the Dubai Duty-Free Tennis Championships.
The 27-year-old became the third Russian Champ on the ATP Tour this season. He joins Andrey Rublev (Rotterdam) and Daniil Medvedev (Marseille) on that rundown. The former with whom he won the Dubai double a few weeks ago.
Doesn’t seem like anyone will be stopping him now.
Karatsev booked his place in the fifth spot in the FedEx ATP Race. Medvedev (second) and Rublev (third) likewise included in the Top 5 positions for the Nitto ATP Finals.
Karatsev, currently ranked No. 42 in the ATP tour ranking, is the third wild card to win this ATP 500. He defeated four seeded players on the way to the final, joins Thomas Muster (1997) and Wayne Ferreira (1995).
